Overall, Maths Paper 1 was well received by many of my students. Paper 1 comprised of questions that were equally fair and challenging. When compared to previous years, this exam was more of a numerical paper than an algebraic paper.
Friday afternoon’s Maths Paper 1 was a challenging exam. Section A consisted of six questions, and students were required to answer five. The questions included complex numbers, algebra, functions and calculus.
The Higher-Level Geography Paper was balanced and well received. The sections were very topical, fair, and accessible to all students. The short questions had a wide variety of topics, the section was very manageable. Yearly favourites were present such as the Earth’s Structure and Landform Identification.
English Paper 2 was another fair, engaging and highly accessible paper for all abilities. The questions on the Single Text were even-handed and clearly phrased, providing great scope for students to demonstrate their personal engagement with the text.
Students can now bid farewell to Leaving Cert English as they have Paper Two behind them. It was an enjoyable paper that any well-prepared student should be happy with.
The higher-level home economics paper touched on a number of topical issues. It offered students a great variety of choices in the questions offered, especially with the amendments to the paper this year. The short questions served as a nice introduction to the paper and were very approachable overall with a variety of topics that should cater for all students.
