The Yeats College August Preparation Course provides Leaving Certificate 2027 students with an opportunity to create a strong foundation ahead of the new academic year.

Running from 17th – 19th August 2026 in Galway, this intensive three-day course is designed to provide students with an effective pathway for successful study throughout term one.

By focusing heavily on key topics and examination questions, our expert tutors will provide the core strategies and actionable plans needed for a solid, effective year of learning. Students will also receive detailed, comprehensive notes on all aspects of the material covered.

Subject Breakdown

The course focuses intensively on the core curriculum of three essential subjects:

  • Maths (Higher Level): A comprehensive introduction to 6th-year material. We will introduce key foundational areas including Sequences and Series, Logs and Indices, and Area and Volume (including geometry). Sessions will utilise past exam papers to hone specific exam techniques for these topics.
  • Irish: Designed to build absolute confidence ahead of 6th year. This subject covers Paper One (Ceapadóireacht/Aiste & Cluastuiscint), Paper Two (Filíocht, Prós & Léamhthuiscint), and vital preparation for the Oral Examination (An Bhéaltriail) with sample answers and vocabulary building.
  • English: A highly structured approach spanning three dedicated revision sessions. The course covers critical comprehension strategies (Question A), writing for impact (Question B/Composing), prescribed poetry focusing on Patrick Kavanagh, and a deep dive into Shakespeare’s Othello (key characters and themes).
