The Leaving Certificate Music examination was well received by the music students. The listening paper had a nice mix of topics, with a lovely Question 1 focusing on Berlioz. An extra excerpt in the Irish Music question gave the opportunity to explore and show off their knowledge in this area. A nice list of Irish Music Essays with some anticipated essay titles reassured the students on this question.
The aural skills question had a nice variety with some new style questions included in this section, which gave the students the opportunity to explore their key words on the areas of musical features, melodic features and accompaniment features. The composing paper was well received with a Major melody question and a minor backing chords question.
Overall, it was a lovely paper and gave the students the opportunity to flourish and show off their knowledge.
