Students were very happy with the 2026 Higher Level Chemistry paper. It was a very fair and well-balanced paper which allowed students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge.
Students who practised past exam papers were rewarded as many parts of the questions were very similar to previous exam questions, eg, Water of crystallisation (Qn 1), Ionisation Energy, Electronegativity (Qn 5), Organic Fuels (Qn 6), Equilibrium (Qn 7) and Rates of Reaction (Qn 9).
Overall, students who were diligent in their exam preparation would be delighted with this very approachable paper.
