All in all a very good Higher Level Irish Paper One!
The vocabulary on the Listening Comprehension was very much in line with previous years. Excerpts were based on everything from the Fleadh Cheoil to a football injury to student accommodation at Trinity College! Advanced vocabulary was nicely interwoven with more basic vocabulary, which gave students of all standards of Irish a chance to shine. The dialogue was certainly fast in places which required a second listen to fully secure your answer.
The essay titles were very student-friendly and there really was something for everybody. The highly anticipated ‘ An Ghaeilge’ essay made an appearance, so no doubt students will have been exhilarated to see that! There were many other titles for students to choose from, also with topics like International News Stories, Equality in Ireland and Issues affecting people in life today. For sure, students will have had a choice there, without much difficulty in understanding the titles.
