Review: Irish (H), Paper 2

Written by Yeats College Irish teacher, Samantha Hogan

All in all, a good year for Irish.

Students were happy with the appearance of the much-anticipated Hurlamaboc and Colscaradh!

Comprehensions were very manageable with texts on music legend Rory Gallagher and Sport in Ireland.

The Prós section had a choice of two very fair questions on Hurlamaboc and Oisín i dTír na nÓg.

Filíocht saw Colscaradh and An Spailpín Fánach make an appearance.

Questions were well balanced with familiar wording in questions (i) and (iii) with more challenging wording on the question (ii).

A really lovely question on ‘A Thig Ná Tit Orm’ asking students to discuss the positive memories the author, Maidhc Dainín Ó Sé, had of his childhood growing up in the Kerry Gaeltacht.

I am quite confident that students will have been generally very happy with Irish Paper Two.
