SAVOURING SUCCESS AT YEATS COLLEGE

Celebrating their outstanding Leaving Certificate results at Yeats College were two year programme students Finn McLoughlin (615 pts), Woodstock; Sorcha Egan (580 pts), Moate; and Fergus McCabe (625 pts), Clarinbridge

There were jubliant scenes at Yeats College as students collected their Leaving Certificate results. Yeats College students performed extremely well with numerous students receiving 6, 7 and 8 A’s. An impressive 5 students scored over 600 points, with one student achieving the maximum result of 625pts. A total of 30 students scored 550 points or over.

Clarinbridge student Fergus Mc Cabe achieved the maximum number of 625 points. Fergus was delighted with his results and hopes to study Medicine. He said “I am thrilled that everything worked out in the end. I hope to study medicine at NUI Galway, my first choice course. I’d like to thank the teachers who were so dedicated and were always willing to go that extra mile. The school environment was great. Everybody wanted to do well and knew that the work had to be done.”

Finn Mc Loughlin from Woodstock scored an impressive 615 points, as did Sligo student Martin Davey. Martin said; “It is the best day of my life. I can’t believe it. It was a tough year but I look back on it fondly. I am hoping to get a place studying medicine in either UCD or NUI Galway. I am really looking forward to going College. I repeated at Yeats College and I can’t recommend repeating highly enough if you don’t get the results first time round. I have no regrets. When you have people around you that are hoping to achieve their goals it motivates you and is a great help – that’s what the Yeats College students are like. The teachers here work so hard; they are there through thick and thin. They give you the opportunity to achieve your dream”.

Repeat Leaving Certificate Student Ciara McGarvey from Donegal who received 610 points was overjoyed with her results. She said “I am totally over the moon. All the hard work has paid off. This is my third time repeating and my first time at Yeats College. I have finally gotten enough points to study veterinary in UCD. I’d like to thank the teachers for all the support and guidance that they gave to me and to the other students throughout the year”.

Moycullen student Eoin Coughlan was ecstatic with his result of 595 points. He said; “I feel elated. All of the hard work paid off in the end. Coming to Yeats College was one of the best decisions I ever made. I am hoping to study Biomedical Science in NUI Galway and I have enough points for my first choice course”.

Galway city student Amelia Hogan who received 575 points said “I am delighted with my results. I am so happy that my two years at Yeats College have been so successful. The two year programme was fantastic; enjoyable as well as hard work. I’m hoping to study medicine at NUI Galway. The teachers, school and students were fantastic”.

Prinicipal of Yeats College, Terry Fahy, congratulated students on their outstanding results. He said; “I am thrilled with the results. The students have performed so comprehensively and have received very just reward for all of their excellent work throughout the year. I pay tribute to all the students, parents and teachers for all of their efforts in achieving wonderful results”.
