Galway city school, Yeats College, hosted their second annual NUI Galway Careers Event at a parent and student filled evening which took place at the college this month.

The event was structured to facilitate constructive engagement between parents, students and educators with the objective of providing further clarity on the various courses which are available at NUI Galway.

Representatives from a variety of faculties were in attendance, including the College of Arts, Social Science & Celtic Studies; the College of Business, Public Policy & Law; the College of Science; the College of Engineering and Informatics; and the College of Medicine. Information was also available from ancillary departments covering admissions, scholarships, fees and accommodation.

Speaking about the event, Principal Terry Fahy thanked NUI Galway for delivering a valuable information evening for students, parents and teachers. He also acknowledged the strong relationship that exists between Yeats College and NUI Galway.

Yeats College Principal, Terry Fahy, said: ‘Yeats College is delighted to be so warmly associated with NUI Galway and we are very proud that approximately 3000 Yeats College alumni have graduated from the university. As a graduate of the University, I was particularly delighted to be hosting the NUI Galway event and I extend best wishes to all of the students who are about to embark on a most rewarding university experience. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff and students of NUI Galway and in particular Celine O’ Donovan and Caroline Loughnane for giving their time so generously’.

In 2012, 98% of Yeats College students were successful in obtaining a place in third level, with a large portion of students chosing NUI Galway for their studies.
